Covid-19...we're all waiting
Hello my friends, Well, this is weird...and awful...and scary. As you all know, starting with our St. Patrick's celebrations, all "in-person" opportunities to share some singing and dancing and general merriment have been suspended. It feels overwhelming and very uncertain but in the middle of all this mess here are a few things I am absolutely sure of... We are all in this together. We will bounce back. We will make it through this no matter how long it takes. I've already seen so many beautiful examples of people helping each other across this great city and I'm unbelievably grateful for those of you who have reached out to offer encouragements and send a little love my way. This is how we make it. We care. We find ways to SHOW we care. Call people. Send messages on social media. Text somebody for no reason. Learn something new and share it with somebody. It might be what gets them through another day/week. Love till you look silly!!! In coming days and weeks I will be here. We may not be able to hug and dance and drink together but I believe music can still connect us. To that end I will be doing live shows on Facebook and Instagram and reaching out in song as often as I can. So grateful for those of you that joined me this week on Facebook. It felt so good to re-connect even for a little while so tune in, invite friends, let me know what I can be singing for you to break up the gloom!! If you have friends or family that work in one of the great bars/pubs/restaurants in this city please check in with them. Many have been laid off and all are being effected but people are finding ways to help each other. If you can I'd sure appreciate it if you would send some love to the hourly staff at Fado Irish Pub. Any of you that have experienced my shows there know that we are like family. The managers have set up a Gofundme page to try and bridge the gap so if you could take a look (Fado Chicago Staff Hardship Fund). Give, share, or just check in. See if there's anything you can help with. We are stronger together. Until we meet again my dear friends...be kind and keep singing! Slainte, |
